Have you ever thought that Canadian chefs are so popular? If you are working as a chef in a Chinese restaurant, Western restaurant or Japanese cuisine, take a look!
New Brunswick and Alberta Cook Immigration
Program Overview
- New Brunswick is located in eastern Canada, adjacent to the province of Quebec.
- Alberta is located in western Canada and is the most economically developed region in Canada.
- Employer categories include hotels, hostels, restaurants, takeaways, school cafés
- Catering options include Chinese, Western and Japanese cuisine
- Employers generally require: at least 2 years of relevant work experience in the past 5 years, and employers tend to hire people with work experience in hotels, chain catering companies or large-scale restaurants; the age should preferably be 54 years old or below, mainly because the physical labor is greater and the working hours are longer than other occupations; employers hope to hire "Cook" instead of "Chef" or "Sous Chef" because their own workplace already has "Chef" or "Sous Chef". If you are a "Chef" or "Sous Chef" and wish to downgrade to a "Cook", you can also arrange an interview and submit an application.
Eligibility
- 18 to 54 years old
- Before applying for a work visa, you can prove that you have 2 years of relevant work experience in the past 5 years
- Chef jobs with LMIA support – matched by Canadian employment agencies. After a successful interview, the employer will apply for a permit to employ a foreigner, i.e. LMIA, through a Canadian immigration consultant or lawyer. Some employers already hold or will have a Canadian immigration consultant or lawyer apply for an Atlantic Immigration Program endorsement (similar to LMIA)
- English proficiency: IELTS scores are listening: 4.5 / reading: 3.5 / writing: 4 / speaking: 4. If an applicant can obtain an IELTS score of listening: 5 / reading: 4 / writing: 5 / speaking: 5, he or she can apply for permanent residency through the four Atlantic provinces without provincial nomination, which will shorten the overall application time.
- Senior high school graduation, i.e. DSE passed or HKCEE passed in Chinese, English and Mathematics under the old system. Applicants whose public examination results are not satisfactory but who have studied a 1-year certificate course or a 2-year diploma course can also meet the relevant requirements
