Introduction to Hong Kong Investment Immigration
Program Overview
The Hong Kong Government announced in the 2023-24 fiscal year Budget the introduction of a New Capital Investor Entrance Scheme to further enrich the talent pool and attract more new funds to settle in Hong Kong. It will help enhance the development advantages of Hong Kong's asset and wealth management, finance and related professional sectors.
Eligibility
- Must be 18 years or older
- Total investment amount: HK$30 million
- 6 months before application, prove that you have personal net assets of no less than HKD 30 million (global assets are acceptable)
- Of which HK$27 million was invested in stocks, funds, bonds and real estate, etc.
- A maximum of HK$10 million of the HK$27 million portfolio can be invested in non-residential real estate or residential real estate (the transaction price of a single property must be HK$50 million or more)
- The remaining HK$3 million must be invested in science and technology innovation and other key industries
Project Advantages
- Approved applicants may bring their dependants (including their spouse and unmarried dependent children under the age of 18) to Hong Kong.
- Generally, you can be allowed to stay in Hong Kong for no more than two years. Upon expiration of the period, you can apply to extend your stay for no more than three years. Thereafter, you can apply to extend your stay for no more than three years at the end of each three-year period.
- Applicants and their dependants may apply to become Hong Kong permanent residents in accordance with the law if they have ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than seven years.
- If an applicant fails to meet the continuous ordinarily residence requirement in Hong Kong, but has continuously met the financial requirements of the new scheme for not less than seven years, he or she may apply for unconditional stay in Hong Kong. If the application is approved, the applicant can freely dispose of the assets invested.
