Introduction to the Second Generation Scheme for Hong Kong Permanent Residents

Program Overview

The Scheme is designed for persons who intend to come to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to work under the Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents.

This program is not available to nationals of Afghanistan, Cambodia, Cuba, Laos, North Korea, Nepal and Vietnam.

Eligibility

The second generation of Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents who have emigrated overseas can apply to return to Hong Kong to work through this scheme. In addition to the normal immigration requirements, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Aged between 18 and 40 at the time of application;
  • Born overseas;
  • His/her father or mother is a Chinese national residing overseas and holds a valid Hong Kong permanent identity card;
  • Have good educational background or professional ability;
  • Possess good Chinese or English language skills;
  • have sufficient financial means to meet their daily living and accommodation expenses (including dependants, if any) without recourse to public funds.
